Ambon is the capital of Maluku province and it serves as the area’s communications hub.

From here, jets fly to or from Jakarta, Bali, Ujung Pandang and Irian Jaya.

Seram`s mountains loom to portside (on the left), while starboard (on the right) passes lonely stretches of beach, swaying coconut palms, and everywhere, the lovely green-blue water.
